Types of UPVC Door Handles
It is crucial to select the appropriate replacement handle made of upvc for your home if your handles are in need of replacement. A locksmith can provide and install high-security uPVC door handles with extra security features.
The most important measurements are measurement A (known as PZ) and the length of the backplate (measurement F). Check these measurements to make sure your new uPVC handles will fit.
Lever/Lever
A lever is a rod that pivots around the point. When you apply a force at the end of the lever it tends to rotate the fulcrum to the direction of the force. This rotates the fulcrum, increasing the applied force, allowing you to lift or move something that would require more force if you were to apply directly to the load.
The distance between the fulcrum of the lever and the point at which you apply force determines the most effective movement. This is known as the mechanical advantage. The greater the length of the lever the greater the mechanical advantage. You can determine the mechanical advantage by dividing the distance from the fulcrum until the point at which you're applying the force by the distance between the fulcrum and where you will end the lever.
Levers can also have different effects depending on how the forces are applied. For instance, a class 2 lever tends to rotate in the opposite direction when the force of effort is applied (like a teeter-totter). The forces generated by pushing the handle of a front door can produce rotational effects that are similar to these.
However, levers don't create energy. They simply multiply the force you apply by changing a small amount of effort over a large distance into a greater amount of force that is applied over a smaller distance. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and move large amounts of cargo. The lever principle is used in everyday tools like crowbars. hammer claws fishing rods, hammer claws and even your own legs, when you stand on your car's hand brake.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc door handles, feature levers on both sides to operate the multipoint locks. They are available in a variety of variations and finishes and are suitable for a range of materials like UPVC, Aluminium & Timber doors. They are sold in pairs for both the inner and exterior door with screws and spindles included. They are available both hand- and non-handled versions to meet the needs of different users.
These can be used to replace an existing upvc door. They are typically operated by lifting the levers to throw out all of the multipoint locks and turning the key to close and unlock. They offer some extra security in comparison to standard lever door handles as the locking operation can only be accessed from the inside with a key in the event that the door is locked.

They are not as safe as a cylinder lock but they're a cost-effective way to increase the security of your home. The only disadvantage is that they do not offer the same level of protection as a cylinder bolt and consequently don't block access to outside if the door has been left open.
We have a wide selection of lever pad upvc handles made by top manufacturers in the market. They will therefore be made with high quality components. They are also generally supplied with a manufacturer's guarantee.
These are usually designed to work with the 92mm lock, or a substitute version known as the Paddock Lock. They will feature an 82mm cylinder centre on the inside and 62mm outside. They also come with two spindle followers. Some are inserted into the back plate while others can be removed to allow for different fixing centres.
Lever/Snib
Lever latches are the most basic type of door handles . The lever is pushed downwards to operate a simple latch inside the door that can be locked using keys. Certain lever privacy handles work based on this same principle but with the addition of a Snib (like a doorknob).
A snib-button can be extremely useful, particularly for homes where it's important to protect privacy or ensure security. You can use the snib button to block your guest from entering until they are ready. This kind handle is also used for interior doors such as bedrooms, where you may want to restrict access from the outside.
In certain situations the snib button can cause issues, especially if you have doors and locks that are warped. If the snib switch is accidentally pressed, or by someone who isn't familiar with it, your door may shut and lock you out. It is possible to gain entry by knocking the door frame or the letterbox. However, this is not ideal.
If your uPVC has a snib, we recommend replacing it with a smart lock from the E-LOK 7 Series. These smart locks can be retrofitted to double-turn pull handle kits. They are available with coverplates that hide holes that are already present to make it an effortless installation. The system has been tested to 200k cycles to ensure durability. The handles themselves are constructed using a solid metal structure and are BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 for corrosion resistance.
